It kind of hit me out of nowhere when I realized I was ending every workday with a stiff neck and a low headache that wouldn’t go away until late evening. I work from a small apartment, so my desk setup grew randomly over time, not really planned.

I went through almost the same thing last year and honestly didn’t take it seriously until my shoulders started feeling tight even on weekends. I used to think ergonomic stuff was overhyped, but once you spend eight or nine hours staring at a screen, small details matter a lot. What helped me was raising the monitor to eye level and freeing up space under it, which made my desk feel less cramped. I didn’t want a wall mount because I move my setup around, so I ended up using a simple adjustable monitor stand since that’s what fit my space best. The thing I like is that it doesn’t lock you into one position, so you can tweak the height depending on your chair or posture that day. The build feels solid enough that I don’t worry about wobbling, even when typing fast. Another bonus I didn’t expect was how much cleaner my desk looked once cables had a bit more room. I’m not saying it magically fixed everything, but combining a decent chair with a monitor stand made long work sessions way less draining. My advice is to measure your desk and screen first and think about how you actually sit during the day, not how you wish you sat.
