I manage a small warehouse space closer to Hillsboro and about a year ago we started noticing similar things. It wasn’t anything dramatic at first, just people cutting across the property late at night or trying to open the outer gates. Cameras were helpful for reviewing footage, but they didn’t stop someone in the moment. Eventually we decided to try having a guard on site during certain hours, mainly overnight and early morning when the area is quiet. We actually started with an Unarmed security guard because we didn’t need anything aggressive, just someone experienced who could patrol, notice unusual behavior, and handle situations calmly if something came up. What surprised me is how quickly the atmosphere changed. When people see a uniformed guard walking around or parked near the entrance, they usually move along pretty quickly. The guard also helped with things we didn’t originally think about, like checking that loading dock doors were closed, making sure delivery drivers arrived at the correct gate, and keeping an eye on the property during a short construction project when some alarms were temporarily offline. During that renovation we even needed someone for fire watch duties for a couple nights, and having someone trained for that made things easier. If you’re exploring options, this is the page I originally came across when I was researching: Security guard services Portland, Oregon — that’s basically the kind of service we ended up using for our property.
