How do I calculate the approximate cost of a move?

I’m trying to figure out how to calculate the approximate cost of a move and honestly it’s more confusing than I expected. Last time I moved, I totally underestimated everything. I thought it would just be the truck rental and a couple of friends helping out, but then there were packing supplies, fuel, extra fees for stairs, and even storage for a week because my new place wasn’t ready. This time I want to plan better. Is there a simple way to estimate the total and get at least a rough idea before I start calling companies?

When I was in the same situation, I realized guessing doesn’t really work. What helped me was using a moving cost calculator to estimate the total expenses more realistically. I actually checked it, because they have tools that let you estimate the total based on distance, size of your home, and extra services. It’s not an exact number, but it gave me a ballpark figure so I could plan my budget. Also, don’t forget to count things like packing materials, insurance, and possible tips. Those small extras add up fast.
