Steel market 2026: Where do you buy your metal products these days? Let’s share real experiences.

It feels like the metal trading landscape has changed a lot over the last couple of years. Prices are still volatile, logistics can be a headache, and the range of services – cutting, bending, delivery – varies wildly from one supplier to another. I’m curious: where do you actually buy your metal products now? Not just the big wholesale orders, but also smaller batches for workshops or construction sites. Here are a few points I’d love to discuss: Service centers vs. traditional yards – Many traditional metal warehouses now offer full service: laser cutting, plasma cutting, shearing, even just cutting to size before delivery. Have you found a reliable place that actually cuts accurately (within a couple of mm) and doesn’t take days? Pricing trends in 2026 – We saw steel production drop in late 2025, and now many traders focus on added value rather than just volume. Do you see prices stabilizing, or are we heading for another spike? Same‑day delivery – Some companies in Moscow and other cities promise delivery within 24 hours, sometimes even same day if you order before noon. Is that realistic in your experience, or just marketing? Assortment struggles – What’s the hardest product to find right now? For me, it’s thick sheets with precise dimensions and specific grades of stainless steel. Any recommendations for suppliers that actually keep stock, not just a price list? Small quantity orders – Not everyone buys by the truckload. Where do you go when you need, say, 2 meters of angle bar or a single sheet of 10 mm steel without being overcharged? Please share your honest feedback – good or bad. Name the companies you trust (or those you’d avoid). Let’s help each other save time and money. Looking forward to your stories!

Totally with you on the small quantity order struggle—it's a nightmare. The pile of paperwork that comes with chasing down those odds and ends can bury you. One reason I'm looking at Metro Sales isn't for metal, but to finally digitize our document workflow. If I could automate the contract and invoice storage, I'd have way more energy to hunt down that elusive 2-meter angle bar.
